Evolution and Development of

Flowers, Fruits and Reproductive Meristems

Our research lines

Our lab is mainly focused on the study of genetic networks controling different aspects of reproductive development.

  • Genetic control of the end of the flowering phase
  • Genetic networks controlling floral reproductive organ development
  • Genetic basis of the evolution of the angiosperm carpel
  • Biotechnological applications to improve reproductive traits in crops

XVII RBMP

The Spanish Meeting in Plant Molecular Biology brings together many of us working of plants. Old friends, new faces and great science met this year in Castellón, covering all sorts of topics. In the pic, Paco Madueño and his talk on the control of flower number in legumes.

Paella summer retreat

Our own way to say hello to the summer, extended lab meeting (Madueño’s, Merelo's and Gomez-Mena's come too) by the sea, swimming, sipping beer and wine, eating paella.. and with all the good vibes right after Saint John’s night. Happy solstice!

Flower meeting in Palermo

The workshop in Molecular Mechanisms Controlling Flowering was held in beautiful Sicily, and there we went to present our work. Plant reproduction, flowering time, inflorescences, floral organs.. all of our favorite topics. As always awesome!.

Evodevosignet in motion

We had our first reunion for the Evodevosignet consortium, a network funded by AEI to bring together Spanish researchers working in evolutionary aspects of plant signalling and development. Two awesome days in Miraflores de la Sierra to get started!
